Borussia Dortmund vs. FC Málaga: The Black and Yellows biggest ...

Very few people expected either Borussia Dortmund or FC Málaga to reach the semi final's of this year's Champions League. However, both teams have surprised football fans all around Europe and are now vying for a place amongst Europe's elite four clubs.  Borussia's left back Marcel Schmelzer is well aware of the importance of tonight's match:

Dortmund are currently the bookmakers favorites to go through. Even if Dortmund should get eliminated they can look back on their best Champions League campaign in 15 years. The club has risen from the 119th to the 27th spot in Uefa's team ranking. Should Dortmund qualify for the Champions League next season as well, they should be rewarded with potentially easier opponents.

* Robert Lewandowski has been involved in 44% of Borussia Dortmund's goals in the Champions League. The Polish striker is currently on 5 goals and 2 assists.

* The first leg in Málaga ended in a 0-0 draw. Both keepers have had excellent Champions League campaigns so far. Borussia's Roman Weidenfeller has conceded a total of 7 goals in 9 matches, keeping 4 clean sheets in the process. His opposite number Willy Caballero has only conceded 6 goals and kept 6 clean sheets.

* Borussia Dortmund's players have been booked a total of 7 times after having committed 105 fouls so far in the competition. This makes Dortmund the fairest team in the competition. By comparison: Málaga's players have been booked a total of 21.

* Dortmund are still struggling to tuck their chances away: Klopp's team have only converted 14.3% of their chances into goals.
