Arsenal vs. Stoke City: Score, Grades and Post-Match Analysis

While the team won its match against Stoke City, 1-0, off a Lukas Podolski set piece, Everton drew and Chelsea lost. With those results, the Gunners are now just a point behind Everton for fifth place and five points behind third-place Chelsea.

Arsenal largely dominated the first half, holding 62 percent of the possession and earning the majority of the dangerous chances.

The Gunners came out absolutely buzzing and created quite a few chances in the first 10 minutes, but Stoke City calmed the game down and slowed the pace. Still, Arsenal would eventually regain momentum and press Stoke City toward the end of the first half.

Twice, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was turned away with golden scoring chances by keeper Asmir Begovic. Theo Walcott was bright down the right side for Arsenal, continuing his excellent form of late—though he couldn't find the netting in the first frame.

Desperate to earn the three points, Arsene Wenger would bring Santi Cazorla and Lukas Podolski in the game, subbing out Oxlade-Chamberlain and Abou Diaby in the 68th minute.

It would prove to be a stroke of genius. After Walcott was fouled on the edge of the box, Podolski would take the free kick and send his effort into the goal off a deflection from a Stoke player. The referees debated calling offside before awarding the goal and Arsenal finally had its lead in the 78th minute.

Cazorla would nearly double the lead just a few moments later, but Begovic would brilliantly keep the Spanish midfielder's effort from finding the top corner of the net.

While Stoke City would try to press forward down the stretch, the team never seriously threatened the Gunners. This was Arsenal's day.

In a word, Walcott has been brilliant for Arsenal this season and that didn't change on Saturday. For much of the match, he was the most dangerous Gunner, challenging the Stoke City defense with his pace down the right side, ripping shots and setting up opportunities for his teammates.

When he is on the pitch, the Gunners have a different, more threatening look about them. He set up the game-winning goal and once again was the most dangerous Arsenal player on this afternoon.

Were it not for Stoke City's keeper, Arsenal could have easily scored two or even three more goals in this game. Begovic was a stud, keeping Oxlade-Chamberlain from scoring twice and majestically keeping Cazorla from tallying a goal as well.

Stoke City came in knowing it would need to play stout defense and hope to strike on the counter-attack if it hoped to earn three points. For most of the match, however, Arsenal dominated possession and a simple draw seemed a more realistic goal.

Podolski has proven to be a very nice addition this season and he boasts a dangerous left foot when it comes to taking free kicks. While he was a bit lucky on his goal—both to get a deflection and that the referees decided against calling offside—Podolski did his job as a substitute.

Give Wenger credit here—he knew Arsenal absolutely needed three points, so he brought on Cazorla and Podolski and was rewarded justly.

9 Memorable Moments from the Blackhawks Record Setting Streak

The Chicago Blackhawks became the dominant story in sports in the first three months of the NHL season as they rolled through 24 games without suffering a regulation defeat.

Chicago's play was shocking, considering that Joel Quenneville's team had been beaten in the first round of the playoffs in each of the last two seasons. The Blackhawks looked like a playoff team at the start of the season, but there was no reason to believe they would become record setters.

Instead of feeling their way along, the Blackhawks began the season with something to prove. They proved it for 24 games before they finally tasted defeat for the first time when they dropped a 6-2 decision at Colorado March 8.

Here are nine of the more memorable moments from the first 24 games of the season, in which they did not suffer a regulation defeat.

They fell short of getting within hailing distance of the 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers' record of 35 straight games (25-0-10) without a regulation defeat, but the Blackhawks' run took attention away from the lockout and put it squarely back on the game in a stellar fashion.

The lockout-delayed season started Jan. 19 in Los Angeles when the Blackhawks took on the Stanley Cup banner-raising Kings.

Los Angeles finally had a chance to be recognized back in their home uniforms by their fans and it was a party. Until the game started.

The single-minded Blackhawks didn't care about the Kings' celebration. All they wanted to do was put the puck in the net.

Chicago opened the game with three first-period goals and dominated the Stanley Cup champions 5-2 in their home opener.

Dallas was getting outshot by the Blackhawks, but Dallas goalie Kari Lehtonen was seemingly stopping everything thrown his way.

Instead of getting frustrated by the Stars' goalie, the Blackhawks turned it up a notch. Patrick Sharp scored in the second period and Jonathan Toews tied it in the third before Marian Hossa won it in overtime.

It was a scintillating performance because the Blackhawks refused to be stopped by a hot goalie and found a way to overcome and earn the victory.

When the Blackhawks flew into Calgary for their Feb. 2 game with the Flames, they were a tired crew. They had lost their previous two games in shootouts, including a decision to the hated Vancouver Canucks the night before.

The gas tank was empty as the Blackhawks took the ice against the Flames and they were outshot and outskated throughout the game. When Jay Bouwmeester scored for the Flames with 35 seconds remaining, it appeared the Blackhawks would suffer a 2-1 defeat.

However, on the ensuing faceoff, the Blackhawks gained possession of the puck and they would maintain it until two seconds remained when Marian Hossa jumped on a loose puck in the slot and popped it past Calgary goalie Miikka Kiprusoff to tie the game.

Chicago goalie Ray Emery was spectacular for the Blackhawks. He had 45 saves in the game and added three more in the shootout. Patrick Kane scored the only shootout goal and the Blackhawks won again.

The Blackhawks were rolling with an 8-0-2 record when they traveled to Phoenix for the second meeting of the season between the two teams in the desert.

In this game, Phoenix goon Raffi Torres was making his return following his 21-game suspension after clocking Marian Hossa from behind in last year's playoff series.

Jamal Mayers took on Torres at the 2:35 mark and gave him a beating, but after that the Blackhawks were all business. They whipped the Coyotes 6-2 on their home ice and were not the least bit distracted at the sight of a player who had caused them so much pain.

While the Chicago Blackhawks got off to the best start of any NHL team, they were not the only team to get out of the gate impressively.

In the Eastern Conference, the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins have been special. However, there are no crossover regular-season games between Eastern and Western Conference foes this season.

The Anaheim Ducks have been special and would probably be the top story of the year if the Hawks had not been so dominant. The Ducks came to the United Center Feb. 12 and played with a physical edge and toughness against the Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks took a 2-1 lead into the third period, but Andrew Cogliano tied it for the Ducks in the third period.

While the Ducks would win the game in the shootout, the Blackhawks showed they could hang in there with one of the most physical teams in the league.

The Blackhawks outskated and outplayed the Canucks for the majority of the game as they built a 3-1 lead after two periods on two goals by Marian Hossa and another by Patrick Sharp.

The Blackhawks' defense continued to frustrate the talented Canucks for the majority of the third period. However, Alexander Edler scored with less than three minutes to go and then Kevin Bieksa tied it up with 1:01 to go.

The Blackhawks appeared ready to collapse, but they held on in the final 61 seconds and overtime. Patrick Kane and Andrew Shaw beat Vancouver goalie Cory Schneider in the shootout and the Blackhawks had the 4-3 victory.

Many expected this was where the streak would end. The Blues had been one of the most improved teams in the league in 2011-12 and many expected them to challenge the Vancouver Canucks for the top spot in the Western Conference.

While they were not playing as well in 2013, it seemed that head coach Ken Hitchcock would get his team primed to play its best game at home against the streaking Blackhawks.

Jonathan Toews scored for Chicago 12 seconds into the game and the Blackhawks dominated for 60 minutes on the road in a 3-0 victory.

The streak had reached ridiculous proportions when they visited Detroit March 3 in front of a national television audience on NBC.

Detroit had the best of it through most of the game and had a 1-0 advantage in the late stages of the the third period. The lead would have been much bigger if Corey Crawford had not made several spectacular saves.

With the Wings about to wrap up a shutout win, the Blackhawks took advantage of a late power play when Patrick Kane whipped a shot by Detroit's Jimmy Howard with 2:02 remaining in regulation.

The streak advanced to 22 games at the end of regulation and then Kane won the game in the shootout with a spectacular double-leg kick move (see video above) to score the game winner.

While the Blackhawks were clearly the best team in the Western Conference, they could not shake the pesky Avs. Colorado had a 2-1 lead after two periods and there were whispers around the United Center that the streak might finally be coming to an end.

However, captain Jonathan Toews scored a short-handed goal early in the third period and the Blackhawks continued to press for the winner. They finally got it with 50 seconds to go when Daniel "Car Bomb" Carcillo scored his first goal of the season to give the Hawks the big win that stretched their record to 21-0-3.

The unbeaten streak would finally come to an end two nights later in Colorado, but the Blackhawks served notice during their 24-game stretch that they are the team to beat in the NHL playoffs this year.

Jose Canseco Is Changing The World One Tweet At A Time: “Gay” and “Ungay” Are Both Human

Not that Twitter lends itself to complex ideas–it often stifles them. But in 140 characters, you can say a lot by saying very little. Not surprisingly, Jose Canseco's tweets generally do this. In fact, they say so little sometimes, that they manage to make you stupider for reading them. Take for example, this tweet about sexuality and sports, from earlier today. While his heart clearly is in the right place, the fact that he calls for equality between the "gay" and the "ungay" is, well, hilarious.

They're called "straight", Jose. The "ungay" makes them sound like they were once gay, and have been resurrected to roam the Earth in search of the opposite sex (a la the "undead".) And not be a stickler, but it wouldn't hurt to throw in some punctuation now and then. You had 97 characters left, use them. Instead, your tweet sounds like a B horror movie plot, where the hero has to unite the two waring sects of humanity to fight the Martian invaders. But hey, if that's how you think of it, fine. The more supportive current and former athletes are of openly gay individuals, the faster we can get past this as a society. A society doomed to be conquered by aliens.

Preview: Celta vs FC Barcelona (game 29 liga 2012/13) | barçacentral

Eric Abidal has been named in Barça's 19-man list for tomorrow's's game with Celta at Balaidos. Just under a year since undergoing a liver transplant the Frenchman continues his long road to recovery with a return to the squad. However, Barça travel to Vigo this evening without Tito Vilanova. The Barça coach took his first training session this afternoon but his doctors have advised him not to travel with the team so Jordi Roura will continue in charge as Barça look to take another step towards the 22nd Liga title.

It is hoped that Vilanova will be well enough to travel to Paris for the Champions League quarter final with PSG on Tuesday. Barça are also without the suspended Victor Valdés and the injured Pedro, Xavi, Puyol, Adriano and Jordi Alba for tomorrow's game, so Barça B players Oier Olazabal and Gerard Deulofeu have been added to the squad for the trip.

With the match in Paris just round the corner it may be difficult for Barça to remain fully focused on the immediate task. With a lead of 13 points over second placed Real Madrid it may be inevitable that the players find it difficult to maintain the intensity in the league, especially on the eve of a Champions League tie. However, we still need eighteen points to cross the finishing line, and there can be no better preparation for the PSG game than a win over Celta. Tomorrow's game has the added interest of a possible extension to Leo Messi's scoring record, as he could complete an entire vuelta of consecutive games scoring against all 19 of La Liga's other clubs.

Celta are facing a hard fight against relegation this season. Poor results led to the sacking of coach Paco Herrera midway through February with the ex-Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Abel Resino taking over. Resino saw his new team beat Granada 2-1 in his first game in charge but since then Celta have suffered three straight defeats which leave them struggling in 19th position on 23 points.

Resino will be without several players for tomorrow's game, top scorer Iago Aspas begins a four-match ban after getting sent off for head-butting Carlos Marchena in the 3-1 defeat at Deportivo two weeks ago, and Michael Krohn-Dehli, Andrés Tuñez, Hugo Malla, Samuel, Alex Lopez and reserve goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez are all out too. However, it is first choice keeper Javi Varas who may be key to Celta's chances tomorrow.

Many will remember Varas for saving Messi's last minute penalty in the 0-0 draw with Sevilla last season but he is also the last goalkeeper in La Liga who managed to prevent Messi from scoring. The day after Messi became a father back in November Adriano, Villa and Alba scored the goals in Barça's 3-1 win but Varas denied Messi the chance to dedicate a goal to little Thiago. Since then, of course, Messi has scored against every other club and he now has the opportunity to include Celta for a 'full-set' and extend his remarkable scoring record to 19 games. However, Barça and Messi should be warned that despite Celta's lowly league position only three clubs have conceded fewer goals at home than the Galicians.

With PSG in mind, Vilanova and Roura may decide to keep the Messi on the bench. Both Mascherano and Messi played an exhausting match for Argentina at altitude in Bolivia on Tuesday, and with the long journeys involved it might be considered wise to rest the Argentinians for the Champions League. However, it often seems that in these cases the coaches simply ask the players if they feel okay to play. If this is this case you can be pretty sure that both Mascherano and Messi will opt to play.

Barça's 19-man squad: Pinto, Oier, Alves, Montoya, Bartrá, Piqué, Mascherano, Abidal, Busquets, Song, Johnathan dos Santos, Thiago, Fabregas, Iniesta, Alexis, Messi, Villa, Tello, Deulofeu.

Celta: Javi Varas; Jonny, Cabral, Demidov, Lago; Oubiña, Pranjic; Augusto Fernandez, Park Chu Young, De Lucas; Bermujo.

Sunderland vs. Manchester United: Preview and TV schedule ...

Manchester United shouldn't have any problems in beating a Sunderland side in free fall, and in growing danger of relegation.

Martin O'Neill's side are currently four points above the drop zone, though having not won since January, they are in serious trouble. This game is one in a difficult run-in, with the Black Cats travelling to Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea next weekend.

Meanwhile at the other end of the table, Manchester United are still 15 points clear, having not been beaten in the league since November. On a run of six straight league wins, they really ought to extend their streak, even if they were hardly convincing in their 1-0 win over Reading before the international break.

Sunderland's task is made even more difficult by their injury list. Steven Fletcher is the team's only true striker to have scored in the league this season, though after he picked up an ankle ligament injury on international duty with Scotland, he's unavailable for the rest of the season, sidelined with captain Lee Cattermole.

Elsewhere, former United player Wes Brown is out with a knee injury, while his defensive counterpart Carlos Cuellar's ankle injury renders him doubtful. David Vaughan and Stéphane Sessègnon face fitness tests to determine their availability.

Sir Alex Ferguson may well opt to rest a few of his stars ahead of United's FA Cup replay against Chelsea on Monday night, with Anders Lindegaard possibly set to start in goal ahead of David De Gea, while Robin Van Persie could also be benched as Javier Hernández comes into the attack. Paul Scholes, Phil Jones and Nani could all return from their recent injuries.

United will be looking to banish the bad memories of the last time they played at the Stadium of Light on the final day of last season -- when, despite a 1-0 victory, a late comeback at the Etihad Stadium saw Manchester City snatch the title.

Out: Steven Fletcher (ankle), Lee Cattermole (knee), Wes Brown (knee) In doubt: Carlos Cuellar (ankle), David Vaughan (groin), Stéphane Sessègnon (groin)

Manchester City welcome back star striker - GiveMeFootball.com

Manchester City's Argentine striker Sergio Aguero can come back to Premier League motion against Newcastle United this week-end, in accordance with studies. Aguero hasn't played a game since sustaining a leg injury against Chelsea in a 2-0 win at the end of last month. He recently made a comeback into training after going right on through therapy in Argentina. City are following leaders and bitter opponents Manchester United by 15 points, and the increased loss of Aguero within the last month has not served City's situation. With the name race all-but over, the Citizens have to keep second position and attempt to close the gap between them and the leaders. Aguero's goal-scoring qualifications should guide Manchester City in the proper direction. The former Atletico Madrid talisman scored the winning goal last season against Queens Park Rangers to get the Premier League title - in a season he scored 30 goals in all games. After having a miserable 2-0 decline against Everton, Aguero's return will be a timely boost to Roberto Mancini. He offers a goal-scoring threat and can help City advance in the FA Cup with a possible semi-final against possibly Manchester United or Chelsea. Deteriorating the Packers' Range Chart After the Peak of Free Agency

Basic director Ted Thompson of the Green Bay Packers has acted like he usually does, which means he is beenApretty peaceful overall, since free company formally started on March 12 in the NFL. Because 2005, when Thompson firstAtook over in the Green Bay front office, the group has seldom dabbled in free agency. Thompson wants to build his team through the draft. He'll also sign a number of "street" free agents, but rarely will sign people to he such as for example Charles Woodson and Ryan Pickett like he did in 2006. As it pertains to free agency, Thompson's first desire would be to take care of the people by himself roster. That's why the Packers presented a tender to restricted free-agent cornerbackASam Shields, and a tender to restricted free-agentAcenterAEvan Dietrich-Smith. Any tenders weren't offered by the Packers to another minimal free agents...tight end Tom Crabtree, linebacker Robert Francois and linebacker Frank Zombo. Crabtree ended up signing with the Tampa Bay Bucs, while the Packers could actually re-sign Francois. The Packers do not appear to be enthusiastic about Zombo now, as a result of his injury record. The Packers also had numerous unrestricted free agents as well. This group included working backACedricABenson, vast radio Greg Jennings, linebacker Erik Walden and linebacker Brad Jones. Walden quickly signed with the Indianapolis Colts, while Jennings signed with the Minnesota Vikings, after it seemed he might re-sign with the Pack for awhile. Smith did re-sign with the Packers a week ago, while the Packers remain mulling their possibilities with Benson. The Packers are currently around $15 million under the salary capAaccording to the Green Bay Press Gazette,Aand much of that has been done through the approach the Packers used in combination with their limited and unrestrictedAfree-agents. Plus, the Packers were able to save your self hat room by restructuring linebacker A.J. Hawk's deal, which cutAhis pay $7.25 million over three years, in line with the Green Bay Press Gazette. In addition, the PackersAalso re-did just reinstated defensive lineman Johnny Jolly's dealAto save yourself some money. The Packers are being very cautious making use of their salary cap because the team realizes that a substantial amount will go to quarterback Aaron Rodgers, when he signs his new deal, which may happen quickly, according to ProFootballTalk.com. The Packers also might like to do new handles external linebacker Clay Matthews and defensive lineman B.J. Raji. The Packers haven't been entirely mute in free agency, as the tender presents to Shields and Dietrich-Smith suggest, as well as the newest deals with Jones and Francois. Additionally they earned defensive end Chris Canty for a trip, before he closed with the Baltimore Ravens. The Packers also supposedly introduced working right back Peyton Hillis, according to ESPNas Adam Schefter, via Pro Football Talk.com. The Packers also were among the teams vying for working back Steven Jackson's services, before he signed with the Atlanta Falcons. Therefore, what does this all mean to the depth information of the Packers currently? Let us have a look.

Garnett to miss at least a week with ankle injury

WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) — Boston's Kevin Garnett is expected to miss at least a week with inflammation in his left ankle as the Celtics practice patience with their 36-year-old star.

Coach Doc Rivers, preparing his team for a playoff run, said on Monday he doesn't think Garnett will be out for the long term.

"I don't know what long term is," Rivers said before practice. "If you mean that he's not going to play this year, no, I don't worry about that. But can he miss four or five games? Yeah, that's possible."

Garnett sat out Saturday night's 110-106 loss at Memphis and will miss Tuesday night's home game against the New York Knicks, Rivers said. The Celtics' busy stretch continues Wednesday night at Cleveland, Friday night at home against the Atlanta Hawks, Sunday night at New York and Monday at Minnesota.

"I think that it's not longer than three weeks or it could be a week," he said. "I'll guess two weeks just because we want to make sure he's really ready. We need to get him fresh anyway."

Garnett's absence may hurt the Celtics chances to move up from the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference standings, but Rivers wants Garnett to be as healthy as possible when he returns.

"We're going to err on the right side," he said. "If they give me an option of 'you can play him every third game or give him two weeks rest,' I can tell you right now, I'm going to say 'two weeks rest' ... because at the end of the day, I want him right. I don't want him half right."

Guard Courtney Lee, who missed the game against the Grizzlies with a sprained left ankle, might return on Tuesday night, Rivers said.

The health problems are the latest in a string of injuries that already have sidelined guards Rajon Rondo and Leandro Barbosa and forward Jared Sullinger for the season. Barbosa was traded to the Washington Wizards after being hurt.

"Kevin went down and Courtney Lee going down, sometimes it kind of wears on you mentally because that's pretty much how the season has gone for us," Paul Pierce said. "Some way, somehow we've got to pick ourselves back up. It's been kind of devastating with the injuries so far, but we've got to find a way to persevere and fight through it."

Tuesday's game could be a preview of a first-round playoff series, and Pierce thinks beating the Knicks on Tuesday or Sunday — or both — could send a message.

"You get a chance to beat them a couple of more times, it really takes away a team's confidence going into the playoffs and so that's got to be a little extra motivation," Pierce said. "They've been playing well all year long. They're on top of the Atlantic Division. But right now it's about heading to the playoffs, picking up the pace."

The Knicks (42-26) have won their last four games after losing four in a row. The Celtics (36-33) have dropped their last four, matching their second longest losing streak of the season. Boston has struggled on defense and Garnett's absence won't help. In three of the last four games, opponents have shot better than 43.9 percent, the Celtics' field-goal defense for the season.

Rivers knew that Garnett's absence vs. Memphis was going to be a problem, especially since it was Boston's second game in as many nights.

"Back-to-back (games), no Kevin, no Courtney, a lot of new guys that were going to play," he said. "As a coach, you're just trying to find a way to win."

Now the Celtics have had two days without a game, resting on Sunday and practicing on Monday, as they head into a stretch of five games in seven days.

"We just haven't played well lately," Rivers said. "We just have to get it back and having all these guys in and out doesn't help, obviously. But everyone goes through it. New York went through it out on the road where they had all the injuries and then they kind of gathered themselves and now they're winning again even though they still have injuries.

FIFA gets Costa Rica protest over WCup loss to US

ZURICH (AP) — FIFA is studying a protest from the Costa Rica soccer federation, which wants a World Cup qualifier against the United States replayed after losing 1-0 in a snowstorm.

"FIFA will now analyze the content of the letter and next steps will be determined in due course," the governing body said Monday in a statement.

The Costa Rican federation said Sunday that the "physical integrity" of players and officials was affected, "ball movement became impossible" and field markings were not visible in Friday's match played in Commerce City, Colo.

The federation also urged FIFA to punish match officials, including referee Joel Aguilar of El Salvador, for allowing the match to proceed.

For the protest to have a chance of succeeding, it must meet specific requirements stated in the 2014 World Cup Regulations.

One clause says that when a field becomes unplayable, the protesting team's captain "shall immediately lodge a protest with the referee in the presence of the captain of the opposing team."

Costa Rica also had to file written protests with the match coordinator within two hours of the final whistle, and to FIFA's administration by registered letter within 24 hours, "otherwise they shall be disregarded," the regulations state. FIFA had yet to determine whether Costa Rica had followed those procedures.

U.S. captain Clint Dempsey scored in the 16th minute to lift his team to second place in the six-team CONCACAF region qualifying group after two matches. Costa Rica is last.

The top three teams qualify directly for the tournament in Brazil, and the fourth-place team faces New Zealand in a playoff.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan told to resist Barcelona, Man City - Tribalfootball.com

Former Nuremburg coach Michael Oenning has urged Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan to reject a move to Barcelona.

"In my eyes, a switch to Barcelona would come too early for him," the 47-year-old told Bild. "He is barely 22. He can think about such a move again when he is 25 or 26.

"What is to come of him at Barca? The guys at Borussia really should light a candle everyday. There can be nothing better for this club than to play under [coach] Jurgen Klopp."

Monday blues: Bay Hill pushed back by thunderstorm

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Tiger Woods rolled in a 10-foot birdie putt on the second hole, just like he had been making them all week, and it looked as though his march to another win at Bay Hill and the No. 1 ranking was a matter of time.

Woods and Rickie Fowler were walking off the green Sunday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational when they looked over a rules official, who told them it was time to stop. The horn blew. The cloudy sky thundered. Havoc arrived.

A violent thunderstorm shook Bay Hill with gusts that topped out at 62 mph and dumped nearly 1½ inches of rain in just under two hours. It toppled TV towers, one of them behind the 10th green. Small ponds formed in the fairways, and there was even a fish — yes, a fish! — sitting in 4 inches of water on the 18th fairway.

The final round was canceled for the rest of the day to get the course dry and cleaned up. The round was to resume at 10 a.m. Monday.

Will anyone be able to catch Woods? He had a three-shot lead over Fowler, Keegan Bradley, Justin Rose, Ken Duke and John Huh when play was stopped. His putting statistics have been absurd this week at Bay Hill. With that birdie putt, Woods was 11-of-12 in putts between 10 feet and 20 feet for the tournament.

And why didn't the tour start this earlier Sunday with hopes of beating the storms? They turned out to be so severe that a tornado warning was issued.

"We just got unlucky with the weather," said Mark Russell, the PGA Tour's vice president of competition. "That micro burst on the radar was about the size of a pinhead, but it hit us directly. Then, we got that little train situation, where if we had been 30 miles north or 30 miles south, we might have been OK."

Russell said the tour, tournament officials and NBC Sports were involved in the decision to start on time. One reason to roll the dice might have been that final pairing of Woods and Fowler, Red vs. Orange, with the emphasis on Woods going for his PGA Tour record-tying eighth win at Bay Hill that would have returned him to No. 1 in the world for the first time since the last week of October in 2010.

"If we played early, it was going to be a tape-delay situation. People were going to know who won before it came on television, so it defeats our television partners," he said. "They wanted to take a chance. They've been involved in several situations where we played early and it didn't rain. It was just unfortunate."

He has won on Monday at Pebble Beach, the U.S. Open (in a playoff), The Players Championship and Memorial (rain) and the Deutsche Bank Championship, although that tournament always ends on Labor Day.

"At least we got a little activity in today, so we're not completely stagnant," Woods said before leaving. "We've dealt with this before."

The Spaniard's tee shot on the 10th hole somehow came to rest about 15 feet up in an oak tree, sitting between two large branches. Garcia used a cart to jump into the tree, and after a few minutes, hit a one-handed, back-handed shot back to the fairway, before jumping some 8 feet back to the ground.

William McGirt was playing his shot from the fairway bunker on the other side and had no idea what Garcia was doing.

"I knew they were looking around the tree," he said. "I didn't know they were looking in the tree. I looked over and Sergio is up in the air, and I'm trying to figure out what in the hell he's going to go. He called for a club. He's hugging the tree. And the ball comes flying out.

Two holes later, the horn sounded. McGirt said Garcia handed him the scorecard and said, "I'm out of here." Garcia earlier had taken a 9 on the par-5 sixth hole. He later said on his website his shoulder and Achilles tendon were bothering him.

Along with the fog at Torrey Pines, the Tournament of Championship at Kapalua didn't start until Monday because of unusually high wind, and the 54-hole event was completed some 29 hours after the opening tee shot. Dustin Johnson won on a Tuesday.

The storm lasted about two hours, enough time to do plenty of damage. Tournament director Scott Wellington said his staff was just starting a full inspection.

"We had some TV cameras go down," Wellington said. "We had some fencing and so forth. All of the big structures to my knowledge — I have not been out there yet — are OK. But we want to make sure they're sound before we put people in them. We have some other structures, smaller structures, tents and so forth that did come down."

Lawn chairs were toppled along the 18th fairway, where fans had been anticipating a big finish with Woods in the lead. Two chairs had blown into a bunker on the 14th, and seedlings from oak trees were scattered across several greens. Bunkers were washed out.

An osprey snagged a fish along the 18th and couldn't hold on. A fan ran across the fairway to get the fish out of the rough, and then dove headfirst across the 4-inch deep puddle in the fairway, dropping the fish. It swam for about 3 feet before going motionless.

And so the wait continues for Woods, who is going after his third win this year. Along with trying to reclaim No. 1 from Rory McIlroy, he can tie a PGA Tour record by winning Bay Hill for the eighth time. Sam Snead won the Greater Greensboro Open eight times.

Potters target keen on move - EatSleepSport

Stoke could reignite their interest in Birmingham defender Curtis Davies after the player admitted he could seek a summer move.

Davies is desperate to get back playing in the Premier League and with Birmingham 10 points off the Championship play-offs, he is unlikely to do it with the Midlands club.

However, Stoke could offer him the chance and after showing an interest during the January transfer window, boss Tony Pulis is sure to revisit the situation.

"I can't lie to you or anyone, I want to play in the Premier League and it would be wrong if I said I didn't," the 28-year-old told the Birmingham Mail.

"I knew Jack Butland's move (to Stoke City) was imminent and I wouldn't have been sold anyway. I didn't worry myself too much. When things happen at the last minute you never know, but I was always concentrating on here."

Borussia Dortmund Attention Manchester Town Ahead Edin Dzeko : SWOL

The summer is rapidly approaching and Manchester Cityas concept hopes, like Borussia Dortmundas, are all but gone. AAccording to Sunlight, the German leaders are supposedly thinking about Manchester City frontman Edin Dzeko. The 27-year-old striker has faced constant pressure at City this season, with a fierce stunning challenge coming to find yourself in Roberto Mancinias starting XI on a weekly basis. AWith both Sergio aKuna Aguero and Carlos Tevez both taking the spotlight, the Bosnian has unfortunately been forced to feature in various cameo performances throughout every season. Dzeko could find added enjoying time elsewhere as Dortmund are raising their interest in theAA27 million striker. His interest was recently stated by ageneral manager Michael Zorc in the striker, but limited to the proper price (via Sunlight ): He is a fantastic forward and a person you ought to be keen on. AHowever, there is also still notably of an economic factor. Because Dzeko is under contract at Manchester City beyond the end of the summer season ait will be right down to pure maths. It is likely that the Citizensa asking price for the Bosnian might be astronomical; however, as Robert Lewandowskias potential continues to remain uncertain, getting one more striker could easily reinforce the striking expertise of the club. Though failing to feature in a normal beginning role for the Citizens this year, Dzeko really has confirmed he could add to his tally with 12 goals currently in the EPL. If Lewandowski is always to move on from Dortmund, the current City talisman may change the Poland international perfectly. ABoth Lewandowski and Dzeko are tall strikers who get excellent aerial potential at both ends of the message, in addition to stand solid on the ball to develop play with onrushing teammates. The top-class strikeras potential is up in the air just like many players in similar positions. ADzeko has proven deadly this year, yet remains to see limited minutes. AFurthermore, he will make any director happy and may just find his normal place in the starting XI back in the Bundesliga where his career took off in the very first place.

March Mayhem 2013 Bracket: Guessing East Region's Special 16 Matchups

The Sweet 16 of the 2013 NCAA tournament is but several days away, and there have been completely plenty of theatrics in the tournament this year. The East region's top seedsa'Indiana, Miami (FL), Marquette and Syracusea'all won nail-biters in the round of 32 to advance. Miami (FL) and Marquette will tip points off on Thursday in the East area, while Indiana and Syracuse will follow. Here's a look at how I start to see the matchups playing out. All statsAviaAESPN.comAandATeamRankings.com. Miami-FL (2) versus. Marquette (3) Before the 2013 NCAA tournament started a couple of things had me picking Miami (FL) to produce it to the Final Four. First, the Hurricanes have a gun in sophomore stage guard Shane Larkin who light it up from the subject and can runs the half-court offense well. He placed 17 points and five assists against Illinois in the round of 32. Next, the Hurricanes rank 37th in opponents' field-goal percentage Third, they have been rebounding the ball far better recently (their rebounding price over the last three gamesAwould rank them 17th in the country over the course of the season). Marquette narrowly defeated Davidson and Butler in its first two games of the NCAA tournament, but I see its work ending in the Sweet 16. The Golden Eagles' challenges on offense within the last two games fear me. They had exercises during the regular time in which they were flat on crime, so it does not surprise me that they'd challenge from the field again. Davidson and Butler rated 86th and 111th respectively in opponents' field-goal percentage this season. What happens if the Golden Eagles face an improved defensive group in the Hurricanes? Prediction: Miami (FL) improvements Indiana (1) vs. Syracuse (4) Syracuse has the defense to destroy Indiana, but I fear that the Orange don't have the crime to finally arise victorious against the Hoosiers in the Sweet 16. Syracuse ranks second in opponents' field-goal percentage and seventh in defensive productivity in 2010. Its security is no joke. It surely depends on if Indiana represents to its possible offensivelya'the Hoosiers shot 42 percent against Temple in the round of 32, but star junior Victor Oladipo once more moved up down the stretch, finishing with 16 points on 7-of-12 firing. Indiana even offers an important benefit on the glass. The Hoosiers rank seventh in bad rebounding rate this year, while the Orange rank 252nd. Barring a failure from Indiana (that is certainly possible given the Hoosiers' inconsistency this year), I see the Hoosiers moving on. Houston Rockets compared to. San Antonio Spurs: Postgame Degrees and Analysis for Houston

After James Harden attack a difficult hovering mid-range jump shot over Tim Duncan with 4.5 seconds left in the game, the San Antonio Spurs were defeated by the Houston Rockets by a report of 96-95. The Rockets trailed by three factors at the half, nevertheless they headed to the next quarter with a seven-point lead. In the end, Tony Parker and James Harden were both unpleasant factors neither security can decelerate. It just so happened that Harden attack the final shot. Also, Omer Asik (five points, 14 boards) had his most useful defensive game of the season. Place Guard: Jeremy Lin Us TODAY Activities Lin struggled mightily in the very first half, registering yet another return than his combined points and assists (three to two). In the 2nd half he broke out of his malaise a little, knocking down a couple jumpers and coming up with an essential steal against Tiago Splitter in the fourth quarter. He was subbed out in the fourth quarter of an exceptionally close sport, although. To ensure that says a whole lot about how precisely far better his copy enjoyed today. Shooting was a major concern, as Lin concluded 2-of-8 from a floor. Grade: C- Firing Guard: John Harden Us TODAY Activities The game was begun by harden strongly targeting the edge in transition, but defensively he was warm and cold, making Danny Green available on the edge, losing him with needless aid and even fouling him on a large part three with 41 seconds to go in the initial half. He scored 11 points in the very first half, producing two three-pointers and five free throws. In the third quarter he exploded for 12 points, moving Houston into a seven-point lead going into the ultimate quarter. Harden also struck a go-ahead thinner with 4.5 seconds left in the overall game, an enormous shot over Tim Duncan that gave a one point lead to Houston. He concluded with 29 points and 15 created free throws, nine boards, six assists, two takes and one return. Grade: A Small Forward: Chandler Parsons USA TODAY Sports Parsons is so valuable as a new player who grows in the wild court, particularly off turnovers, and that ability was showcased by him early on. He was also successful on the edge together with his push phony, finding defenders to bite and then fighting. He hit an enormous three-pointer with just over a minute to get in the game to reduce San Antonio's lead right down to one, and finished with 20 points on 17 images. Grade: A- Energy Forward: Donatas Motiejunas Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports Motiejunas scored Houston's first five items on quite a dribble drive to the proper and a corner three. But guarding Tim Duncan got him in bad trouble, therefore Motiejunas hit the seat within just a few momemts of action. Unfortunately, bad difficulty was an important theme through the game for Motiejunas, as he acquired No. 5 enjoyed only 16 minutes and early in the second half. Grade: D Center: Omer Asik USA TODAY Sports Asik's internal protection was exceptional in this game, as he single-handedly slowed up San Antonio's crime whenever the game hit a sped-up pace. And his focus on Tim Duncan was apparent each time both faced off. Duncan was limited to several mid-range bank images he misfired on, and on the game's final control Asik stifled him to a badly missed chance. He was 2-of-10 from the floor, but defensively he a lot more than composed for it. Grade: A Sixth Man: Jones Robinson Us TODAY Activities His nose for defensive rebounds remains strong, but on as occurred early in the second quarter when he unnecessarily pulled up for an jump shot with over 10 seconds left on the shot clock the offensive end Robinson still will get outside his "lane,". (That shot differs than when he took an shot out of a two minutes later.) Robinson enjoyed just 11 minutes despite Motiejunas being in major bad trouble. He got four rebounds. Grade: C- Seat USA TODAY Activities Table Patrick Beverley overran the end of the very first quarter, hitting two floaters and grabbing his own free-throw miss. He obtained Houston's remaining five factors of the quarter, and sent them in to the second with a two-point lead. He finished with 11 items. Greg Smith presented reliable safety on Tim Duncan towards the conclusion of the 3rd quarter, which played a substantial role keeping in mind San Antonio's offense stagnant. And in the next quarter he totally posterized Tiago Splitter with a massive dunk down the street. Carlos Delfino scored eight points but went just 1-of-6 from behind the three-point line. Grade: B+ Begin Slideshow Props (0) What is the repeat article? Exactly why is this informative article offensive? Where is this informative article plagiarized from? Here's a look at each clash, detailed with predictions. All statsAviaAESPN.comAandATeamRankings.com. Kansas (1) vs. Michigan (4) Jamie Squire/Getty Photographs The very first word that comes to mind whenever you look at Kansas is "balance." Brought by star newcomer guard Ben McLemore and shot-blocking center Jeff Withey, the Jayhawks have every thing needed seriously to get this season to the national championship. Not merely does Kansas rank 10th in the nation in field-goal percentage and 23rd in offensive efficiency, but inaddition it ranks first in opponents' field-goal percentage and 11th in defensive efficiency. The Jayhawks went 7-of-28 from the floor in the first half, then went 17-of-27 in the 2nd half. That has been despite McLemore planning an uncharacteristic 0-of-9 from a floor while scoring just two factors. While Michigan may hang with Kansas offensively, the groups are far apart in regards to protection. The Wolverines ranking 127th in competitors' field-goal percentage and 98th in defensive performance. Kansas even offers a benefit over Michigan on the glass. Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic targeted by AC Milan - Metro

The Serbian, 31, is entering the final year of his contract and, after featuring in only 18 of United's 44 matches this season, manager Sir Alex Ferguson could be tempted to sell, according to Goal.com.

Vidic has been at Old Trafford for seven years but has been hit by injuries this season, and was left on the bench in favour of Jonny Evans in United's Champions League clash at Real Madrid earlier this month.

However, Milan believe he could be the perfect central-defensive partner for Philippe Mexes, who has struggled without Thiago Silva who left for Paris Saint Germain last summer.

The Italian side are making a conscious effort not to pursue targets over 25-years-old, but could make an exception to land someone of the calibre of Vidic.

Milan trail leaders Juventus by 11 points in Serie A and seem certain to strengthen their leaky defence when the transfer window re-opens.

Biggest Issue Boston Celtics Must Solve Before the Start of the Playoffs

The Boston Celtics wrapped up last week winless in a showdown with the defending champions, the Miami Heat, and a three-game road trip.

While the loss to the Heat can certainly be forgiven—LeBron James and Co. have won 26-straight games—the same cannot be said about the Celtics' shortcomings on the road. They are currently 12-23 away from home this season.

It's an issue that has quickly become an Achilles heel for the team. One that threatens to dismantle any chance of success Boston has in the postseason.

The Celtics have now lost four-straight games and six of their last eight. They have also lost five consecutive games on the road.

After getting as close as 2.5 games back of the New York Knicks in the Atlantic Division last week, the team has now dropped to 6.5 games out of the division lead and two games behind the Chicago Bulls for sixth in the conference.

In 34 games played at the TD Garden, the Celtics have averaged 98.5 points and 24 assists per game, while shooting 47.6 percent from the floor. They have also posted an offensive rating of 101.5 and a defensive rating of 94.8.

The ball is constantly in movement, allowing the team to find the best available shot. It also allows each player an opportunity to get himself into the flow of the game.

The Celtics have held opponents to just 89.9 points and only 19.6 assists per game, while limiting them to 42.8 percent shooting from the field and 31.1 percent from three-point range.

Boston does not allow the opposing team time to get into a rhythm on offense. The team's perimeter defense and quick rotations close down the passing lanes and force opponents into difficult shots. More often than not, it also results in turnovers—the Celtics average 9.3 steals per game at home.

In 35 games played away from home, Boston has averaged 90.9 points and 21.9 assists per game, while shooting 44.7 percent from the floor. The team also has an offensive rating of 99.7 and a defensive rating of 104.5.

The ball does not move as much, with players electing to let the shot clock tick away before attempting an ill-advised shot. It almost seems as if the players are playing as individuals and not as a team.

Opponents have taken advantage of Boston, averaging 97.3 points and 22.3 assists per game, while shooting 45 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from beyond the arc.

The Celtics defense is not as solid on the road, allowing opponents better ball movement and higher-percentage shots. Sloppy perimeter defense has allowed opposing guards to slip by, causing mayhem inside the paint. It usually results in an uncontested bucket down low or a kick out for a wide-open three-point attempt.

It's no secret that the Celtics have had their fare share of issues when it comes to closing out games. They have already lost seven contests this season in which they held a double-digit lead at some point—including margins of 16, 17 and even 27.

At home, in 118 minutes with the score tied, Boston has an offensive rating of 103.4 and a defensive rating of 84.4. The team also shoots 47.8 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent from three-point range.

On the road, in 121 minutes with the score tied, the Celtics have an offensive rating of 105.9 and a defensive rating of 102.8. They also shoot 50 percent from the field and 50 percent from distance.

Under the same circumstances at home, opponents have shot just 40.7 percent from the floor and only 23.5 percent from beyond the arc. On the road, those marks increase to 45.3 percent and 35.1 percent respectively.

At home, in 718 minutes with the lead between one and five points, Boston has an offensive rating of 102.5 and a defensive rating of 91.2. The team has shot 46 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from three-point range.

On the road, in 728 minutes with the lead between one and five points, the Celtics have an offensive rating of 99.8 and a defensive rating of 107.3. They have shot just 43.4 percent from the floor and 33.6 percent from outside.

The team has kept its composure throughout the full 48 minutes and delivers fundamentally sound basketball night in and night out. Victories over the Oklahoma City Thunder, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers proves as much.

It's as if they have suddenly forgotten how to play defense. More specifically, it's almost as if they don't care. Losses to the Charlotte Bobcats (twice) and New Orleans Hornets prove that.

Are the Celtics ready for take-off? The next couple weeks will provide us with the answer.Jared Wickerham/Getty Images

The team can't expect to make a deep run when the venue of the game alone is enough to determine how well it will or will not play. It's simply not realistic.

However, while consistency has proven to be a nagging issue for the Celtics this season, the search for an identity has to be their top priority.

Luckily for Boston, there are still 13 games remaining in the regular season. Sure, it's not much time, but it's just enough for the team to get on a roll.

Ed Reed Thanks Baltimore Ravens Fans in Full-Page Advertising

It will be very odd to see Ed Reed wearing a Texans jersey after paying the past eleven months as a part of the Baltimore Ravens, however the future Hall of Famer at the least is departing with school. On Sunday, Reed took out a ad in the Baltimore SunAthanking fans, the city of Baltimore and the business for several of these support throughout the years. It reads as follows: Ravens Nation, My eleven months in Baltimore were more than I would have everAimagined, I have such strong love for you all which is. I'll foreverAcherish my time with the Ravens and the chills that went down my spineAwhen the Lombardi Trophy was finally kissed by me. Special because of all of the Fans, Team, Organization and the City! I'm goingAto miss being a part of this team and organization, but I willAalways be Baltimore and my Foundation may stay static in this community,Athis isn't a goodbye, but a See You Soon. Thank you for anything Baltimore, God Bless you. Edward REED #20 Earlier this week, Reed signed a, $15 million contract with the Texans. It had been a pretty good haul for the 34-year-old, and plainly more than the Ravens were prepared to invest to help keep among the best people in franchise history. For his profession, Reed has 61 interceptions, 10 fumbles recovered and eight defensive touchdowns. He was the 2004 Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year, has been chosen into nine Pro Bowls, is a five-time First-Team All-Pro and has only did not perform a full 16 games in the normal time 3 x. Without question, he'll be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. His departure may be the latest in a lengthy list for Baltimore in 2010. Broad receiverAAnquan Boldin was dealt to the San Francisco 49ers,Alinebacker Paul Kruger signed with the Cleveland Browns, linebackerADannell Ellerbe signed with the Miami Dolphins, cornerback Cary Williams signed with the Philadelphia Eagles and protection Bernard Pollard was cut. Oh, and Ray Lewis retired. There will not be many familiar faces on Baltimore's protection next time, and Joe Flacco might enjoy his new agreement but he will truly be lamenting the increased loss of Boldin. However the failures of Lewis and Reed will be thought probably the most. The couple led Baltimore to two Super Bowl wins and often kept the Ravens' safety together of the NFL's most fearsome products. It's been a rough offseason for Ravens' fans, but at the very least Reed can leave them with his gratitude and appreciation for the final 11 years. He gave Baltimore lots of good times, and in accordance with Reed, the town and Ravens' organizationAreturned the benefit.

Gonzaga Basketball: What Bulldogs Should Do in 2014 to Get Match Failure

The Gonzaga Bulldogs home is sent by a shocking loss to the Wichita State Shockers in the NCAA tournamentas third round once more. The aZags have decorated a NCAA tournament normal to themselves, with 15-straight tournament looks for their name. The evergreen success, however, stops immediately. In that many shows, including a No. 1 seed in 2010, they have mustered only one Elite Eight and four Sweet 16 performances during the streak. Recent mind coach Mark Few has lead all of those Sweet 16 runs, but has been not able to exceed expectations once the Bulldogs' list has been most skilled. Wichita State's Round of 32 upset over Gonzaga. As both a No. 3 seed in 2006 and No. 1 seed in this yearas NCAA event, theyave spent leads late in the second half to finish their season. The Bulldogs wonat get unseen next time but will have a lot of critics no matter the success. Considering they gained that No. 1 seed and failed to surpass the payment, no matter Wichita Stateas three-point portion, there will be a cloud of uncertainty hanging over Mark Fewas team until they could remove it. CBS Sports Network's Jon Rothstein echoed the experts following the 'Zags took place in shocking fashion on Saturday: Whatas on Gonzagaas priority list as inside their try to develop on this seasonas letdown? Letas have a look. Keep Kelly Olynyk Streeter Lecka/Getty Photographs The Bulldogs' interior existence was what made this past Gonzaga group therefore prominent in conference play this season. The WCC Player of the Entire Year also played well in his team's frustrating damage, notching 26 items and seven rebounds. Olynyk is currently 13th in DraftExpressa Top 100 Prospects, prompting the question: will he remain or go? The 7'0" prospect will probably have a first-round name no matter whether he stays or would go to NBA next year, but this could be the greatest his draft stock will ever be. On the other hand, the aZags should really be able to rule discussion play yet again with their star center in the fold. If Olynyk does not wish to head out on this kind of wrong note, coach Few will have a better potential for getting payoff in 2014. Find Alternative to Elias Harris David Becker/Getty Photos One of many most effective scorers in the united states, Harris will be sorely missed on a Bulldogs team that flourished behind his cutting capacity. The Bulldogs elderly guard gave his staff an extra dynamic his whole college career by driving the street and being able to make plays in change. Without any pads committed to the aZags in the 2013 recruiting pattern only however, coach Few may turn to Kevin Pangos and Gary Bell Jr. To hold the scoring load. NCAA contest viewers know what Pangos can perform, as heas an electric shooting with deep variety. Bell Jr., however, would have been a question mark in a extensive part. If the aZags could possibly get increased production out of him, theyall have a formidable inside-out attack between their three best players. Vasco Admits Bundesliga Champion Can Leave: Manchester United...

Dede heads summer time shopping lists of both Liverpool and Manchester United, based on the Mirror. The Vasco da Gama centre-half is really a person inAdemand and is placed to be bought come early july dueAto the clubas difficult economic crisis. Vasco director common Cristiano Koehler this week sai aWe canat trick the supporters, we will find it very hard to put up to Dede since the team requires the resources, and sooner or later it'll occur a' by the heart of the yeara. Dede is becoming notably of a power of character at centre-half for Vasco, having the great mix of speed, height and power which have made him one of many most sought-after fundamental defenders in world football. After concluding fifth for an additional straight year, and without end to the clubas financial plight, the summer exchange window will be an ideal time for the Brazilian stopper to locate a new team and challenge himself against top people in the build-up to the World Cup in his homeland in 2014. In a similar fashion to Carlos Tevez just before his controversial proceed to West Ham in 2006, Dede is part-owned by a 3rd party, indicating that any negotiations for the exchange of the person will have to be agreed on by Vasco, the DIS Group and the Ability investment team. With Vasco and DIS owning a 45% stake in Dede with Ability owning the further 10 %, any negotiations could possibly be difficult and time-consuming. Liverpool have apparently made original inroads with negotiations, and are front-runners to land the Brazilian. Whites manager Brendan Rodgers will be a good idea to have received a head-start over competitors, with the Anfield team languishing inAseventh place in the Premier League with ten games remaining. With popular central opponent Jamie Carragher set to retire at the end of the time, few would argue with the decision to displace him with the beast from Brazil. But, Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester UnitedAmust never be discounted in any competition, and certainly not one involving new signings. Ferguson has a keen eyeAfor buying little-known central defenders, quietlyAobtaining Jaap Stam and Nemanja Vidic and with them since the foundations for a side. With these Vidic and sidekick Rio Ferdinand succumbing to age and injury with the passing of time, Ferguson may possibly have the time is right to create one more empire around one Anderson Vital da Siva. Koeman coy on Manchester City rumours - Goal.com

Mar 12, 2013 9:40:00 AM A number of recent reports suggest that the former Netherlands global is one of the individuals to replace Roberto Mancini come early july The former Inter manager' future at City is in question following their early Champions League elimination and somewhat disappointing performances in the Premier League this phrase, and the Dutchman is apparently one of the individuals to just take his place. The 49-year-old has played a vital position in Feyenoord's re-emergence in the past two months, and the Eredivisie side's great results have presumably not gone unnoticed in Manchester. "Players who grow into internationals attract the interest of larger clubs and it is only logical that the coach is described in the media as well at some point if things go well," Koeman was quoted as stating by Voetbal International. "Aside from that, I cannot say anything else about it, simply because anything was not known by me about any interest." Koeman took charge of Feyenoord in the summer of 2011, and guided them to 2nd invest the Eredivisie last year. They currently sit third in the league dining table.

NCAA Bracket 2013: Studying Friday's Number. 8 compared to. No. 9 Matchups

Matchups between No. 8 and No. 9 vegetables have usually produced nail-biters all through NCAA event history. On Thursday in the round of 64, we found No. 9 Wichita State stun No. 8 victory is en route to a 73-55 blowouted by Pittsburgh, scoring 47 points in the second half. There are two matchups presenting No. 8 and No. 9 seeds on Friday. Here's a break down of each matchup, complete with predictions. All statsAviaAESPN.comAandATeamRankings.com. N.C. State (8) vs. Temple (9) C.J. Leslie (right) and Richard Howell (left) lead N.C. State.Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports Both N.C. State and Temple have had their fair share of troubles on the defensive part of the ball. It's N.C. State's offensea'complete with star C.J. Lesliea'that would be the difference. Leslie is averaging 14.9 details, 7.4 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.0 takes this year. But it is all about significantly more than Leslie. As the Wolfpack list a remarkable 14th in bad effectiveness, a staff. Four other people are calculating 12 points or even more, including senior forward Richard Howell (12.7 points, 10.7 rebounds). The Owls rank 163rd in defensive performance and 195th in competitors' field-goal percentage. That will not bode well for them against N.C. State. That is not taking into consideration the actual fact that Temple ranks 207th in the world in rebounding charge (N.C. State rates 80th). Regardless of this being an No. 8-No. 9 game, I actually do not assume it to be close at all. Prediction: N.C. State innovations North Carolina (8) versus. Villanova (9) James Michael McAdoo brings UNC.Streeter Lecka/Getty Images Vermont has won nine of its last 10 games headed to the 2013 NCAA tournament. The Tar Heels beat N.C. State on Feb. Their only failures and 23 stumbled on Duke and Miami (FL). Villanova has scuffled into the tournament, losing three of its last five games, including a beat to Seton Hall and an embarrassment at the hands of Louisville in the Big East tournament. The Wildcats crime ultimately bothers me. They rank 262nd in the world in field goal-percentage and 219th in unpleasant performance. Meanwhile, while Vermont is not a power offensively, the Tar Heels are good in that respect (65th in offensive effectiveness) and they have a to lean on in sophomore ahead James Michael McAdoo, a potential first-round pick in the 2013 NBA draft.
