Borussia Mönchengladbach vs. Borussia Dortmund : Final score 1-1 ...

Amin Younes made his Bundesliga debut count with a massive goal that earned Borussia Mönchengladbach a point against Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Mönchengladbach picked up a huge point in their campaign to qualify for Europa again next season with a 1-1 draw at Borussia Park against Borussia Dortmund.

With Robert Lewandowski and Julian Schieber both suspended for this match, Jürgen Klopp deployed Mario Götze in a false nine role. Playing with a forward up top really slowed down the BVB attack, and their first chance of the match didn't come until the half hour mark. To be fair, the did get a goal out of it.

Götze drew a penalty on Marc Andre ter Stegen after the goalkeeper fouled him in the area after Götze had beaten him. The referee only showed Ter Stegen a yellow card. Götze sent Ter Stegen the opposite direction and buried his penalty in the top left corner.

Dortmund continued to dominate the remainder of the first half, barely letting Gladbach get a sniff at their half of the field let alone their goal. However, for all of this domination, BVB was unable to capitalize and add to their goal total.

Gladbach manager Lucien Favre gave 19 year old Amin Younes his first ever start in a Gladbach shirt. The academy product showed well on the day and grabbed their first attempt on goal just before an hour had ticked off the clock. Ten minutes later, Younes was celebrated his first professional goal.

Younes ran onto a long ball out of the back and ripped a shot on frame. The ball took a deflection off of Lukasz Piszczek and beat Roman Weidenfeller to make it 1-1. Neither side was able to take the upper hand in the final thirty minutes, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

The point takes Gladbach up to 31 and puts them just three points shy of Hamburg in the final Europa league place. Dortmund moved two points clear of Bayer Leverkusen who has yet to play, but they remain 17 points below Bayern Munich in first place.
